Feel free to edit the following as desired: ******** The Arlington Rotary Club will hold its regular weekly meeting at Christo's Restaurant on Veterans' Day, Thursday November 11, beginning at 12:15. In addition to having several patients from the Castle Point Veterans Hospital, it will have as its featured speaker Elva L. Girton, Deputy Director of the Dutchess County Veterans Service Agency. Ms. Girton is a Vietnam War Era veteran of the United States and currently a Second Lieutenant in the New York Guard. A Dutchess County resident for thirty-two years, Elva Girton is a graduate of Dutchess Community College where she received the Dutchess United Educators Award for Academic Excellence. Ms. Girton joined county government in 1991 and for over thirteen years has served various departments, most recently as Principal Account Clerk in the Dutchess County Finance Department. In addition to her position with the County, Ms. Girton serves as Assistant Adjutant General for the New York Guard as well as Finance Officer and Administrative Officer for the Joint Staff. She is also Past Vice Commander and current Adjutant for the American Legion Post 37 in Poughkeepsie and Board President of the Occupational and Environmental Health Center of Eastern New York. Presiding at the meeting will be President William Polgrean. The Arlington Rotary Club is one of the largest in the Mid-Hudson Valley and was organized more than fifty years ago. The objective of Rotary is "Service above self" and its Four-Way Test is 1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
